Oakland Roots Guest Guide
Laney Football Stadium is located in the heart of downtown Oakland, blocks away from Merritt BART station and just off 880. The closest address to the entrance of the Oakland Roots game is 286 E 10th Street, Oakland, CA 94606.
Guest services is located at Gate 1. We strongly encourage 2019 Oakland Roots Memberships, single-game tickets and VIP experience purchases to be made prior to Game Day on-line at www.oaklandrootssc.com/tickets to avoid waiting in long lines on opening day. Oakland Roots Kids Zone will be available at every home game on the adjacent field of Laney College Stadium next to the Gate 4 Entrance. There will be yard games, airbrushing, inflatable games, and soccer experiences for children of all ages. A liability waiver must be completed upon entry.
BANNERS, SIGNS, and DRUMS
For Oakland Roots home games, fans are permitted to bring drums, signs, flags, and/or banners into Laney Stadium to exhibit their support. However, all signs, flags or banners must follow these guidelines:
Fans with banners, flags (larger than 12” x 18”), and drums must sit in the designated Supporters Section located in the southwest corner of the stadium opposite the main stands.
Banners, Flags, and Drums are not permitted in the main stands.
No profanities may be exhibited on the signs, flags, or banners.
No inappropriate or disrespectful language may be exhibited on the signs, flags, or banners.
To register your drum, flags, and banners please enter through Gate 4 located on the corner of East 10th Street and 4th Ave. To expedite the process, please email email@example.com ahead of the match.
Any signs, flags or banners that do not follow the above guidelines will be confiscated.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Oakland Roots Management is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all guests. Our staff will proactively intervene to support a family-oriented environment where all guests can enjoy the entertainment experience free from the following behaviors:
Foul and/or abusive language and/or obscene gestures
Any disruption of the game by a guest’s actions and/or unauthorized entrance on the playing field and/or restricted areas
Inappropriate displays of affection in public
Intoxication or other signs of impairment
Obscene or indecent clothing
If someone interferes with your enjoyment of a game, please contact a Guest Services Representative for assistance. Laney Stadium does allow standing during the run of play in the designated Supporters Section located on the southwest corner of the Stadium.
Fans found in violation of the Code of Conduct face ejection from the event as well as potential bans from future stadium events.
Please be prepared to move if requested by an Oakland Roots representative if you are sitting in ADA specified seating.
VIP Entrance is located at Gate 1 next to the Laney Children’s Center.
All guests who plan to consume alcoholic beverages will be required to show ID upon entry. Satellite bars are located on East 10th Street and the end zones of Laney Football Stadium. No guest will be served more than two alcoholic beverages at any given time. Alcohol beverage sales on the concourse level will cease in the 70th minute of the match. California State liquor laws prohibit guests from bringing alcoholic beverages into the stadium.
Smoking is prohibited on campus.
ONLY Certified service dogs or service dogs in training will be allowed into Laney Stadium. All other animals are prohibited.
BAGS / BAG SEARCH
One bag per person. Hard-sided coolers are not allowed into the stadium.
BEVERAGES, BOTTLES, AND CANS
Sealed or empty water bottles and soft-sided single juice containers for children are permitted into Laney. Empty spray bottles are permitted into the park. Outside cans and bottles are not allowed and will not be given back to the guest at the end of the event, so please leave these items at home or in your vehicle.
Guests are encouraged to take BART to Lake Merritt Station.
A limited number of bicycle racks are available. Bicycles are not to be locked to stadium fencing or gates.
A limited number of car spots will be available in the main Laney College student parking lot.
NB: Laney Flea Market will occupy this lot during our Sunday Soccer Matches (09/08 & 10/13)
ADA parking is available on 2nd Ave between 10th and 11th.
CAMERA AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT
Media cameras and video recorders are not allowed unless previously approved by the Oakland Roots Media team.
Small cameras, cell phones, and binoculars are permitted to be used by fans.
Children ages five (5) and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Visa and MasterCard are the only cards accepted at ticketing, food, drinks, and retail locations throughout the stadium. No checks are accepted.
Wheelchair Seating is available at Laney Stadium. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org in advance of gameday to make arrangements. Wheelchair Seating is designated in ADA areas around the stadium.
The First Aid station is located on the East 10th Street side near the concession stand. First aid is available to all guests at Laney for all ticketed and non-ticketed events. There will be two ambulances on-site and a roaming ER.
Weapons of any kind (including but not limited to, knives, pepper spray, stun guns, concealed weapons, and firearms)
Illegal substances, drugs, alcohol or chemicals of any kind
Animals (except approved service animals)
Aerosol cans (e.g. hairspray, silly string, confetti, etc.)
Bags and/or Backpacks larger than 16” x 16” x 8”
Laser pointers, drones, hover-boards
Any metal, steel or glass water bottles and any glass/plastic containers
Outside food, snacks, and beverages
Radios without headphones
Video cameras, professional cameras or cameras with detachable lenses
Stadium seats with arms or pockets
Folding chairs or camp chairs
Selfie sticks, artificial noisemakers
Any items deemed by Venue Security Representative to be inappropriate, dangerous, offensive, or potentially hazardous
Strollers are permitted for entry. Strollers, however, must be collapsible or small enough to keep out of walkways and aisles or be placed under seats.
