Oakland Roots Introduce Assistant Coaches Larry Jackson and Jordan Ferrell
Oakland, Calif. (July 5, 2019) – Oakland Roots have signed Jordan Ferrell and Larry Jackson as assistant coaches, joining Head Coach Paul Bravo and player-coach Victor Bernárdez and Technical Consultant Eric Yamamoto on the club’s technical staff. Like Bernárdez, Jackson will be a player-coach.
Ferrell has over eight years of coaching experience. He is currently the head coach of Sacramento Republic’s U-17 and U-19 Academy teams, and also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of the Pacific. Ferrell previously spent two years as the head coach of San Joaquin Delta College. The Stockton native was a defender for Cal State East Bay in Hayward from 2005-08.
Jackson will be the goalkeeper coach and in the mix for playing time in goal, joining the staff after a professional career spanning 2014-18. Jackson signed with the New England Revolution in 2014, and spent one year with the MLS side. He then spent two years in the PDL and one in the USL before choosing to begin his coaching journey. The East Palo Alto native played collegiately for Santa Clara University from 2009-13.
