Oakland Roots Sign Former U.S. Youth International Forward Jack McInerney
Oakland, Calif. (July 24, 2019) – Oakland Roots have signed former U.S. youth international forward Jack McInerney.
McInerney, 26, scored 43 goals in 175 appearances during 10 MLS seasons to start his professional career. The former Philadelphia Union first round draft pick also notched 10 goals in 30 games for an Indy Eleven squad that reached the USL Playoffs in 2018.
Internationally, McInerney represented the United States at the U-15 and U-17 levels. He scored two goals in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria, tallying against Spain and United Arab Emirates in group play to help the Americans advance to the knockout phase. He has also received camp invites to participate with the U.S. Men’s National Team, including selection to the 23-man roster at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
