Oakland Roots add former NPSL Player of the Year Ross Middlemiss
Oakland Roots are pleased to announce that former NPSL Player of the Year Ross Middlemiss has signed on with the club and will be available for the Fall 2018 US Open Cup qualifying round opener on September 22nd. Middlemiss, who won Player of the Year honors while playing with Sonoma County Sol of the NPSL in 2013, was a 1st team Division II All American during his senior season at Sonoma State University and will add a significant attacking threat in the attacking half of the field. Club President and Director of Soccer Benno Nagel had this to say on the addition of Middlemiss to the club, “Ross brings a high level of game understanding to the field. He has massive experience, having played at a high level here within the NPSL for the last several years and also during his time playing in both Germany and Holland. He’s been a huge part of what CD Aguiluchos USA achieved and was of equal importance to what the Sonoma County Sol did for a number of years prior. With Matt Fondy and Simon Rawnsley playing up top, Ross is a guy who can sit underneath them and provide that link between our midfield and forwards, allowing our strikers to stay in more advanced, dangerous positions.”
Middlemiss recently graduated from the prestigious UC Berkeley Hastings College of Law and works as a Legal Fellow at the Center for Biological Diversity. He is married with two children and resides in Concord, Ca.
Please join us in welcoming Ross Middlemiss to the Oakland Roots Family!
